Chain of Lakes in MinneapolisDay Trips and ToursChain of Lakes in Minneapolis Thursday, June 18, 2026. 9:45 am Depart Burnsville Senior Center, 200 W Burnsville Pkwy, Burnsville. Bus loads at Door #12 lower east side of Diamondhead Education Center. Check in begins inside the Sr Center 30 minutes prior to departure. Please check in no later than 15 minutes prior to departure time. 10 am We meet our step-on-guide at Bachman's Greenhouse on Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis who provides a narrated sightseeing tour around the Chain of Lakes and Minneapolis. Enjoy the scenery as you learn about the history and culture on this riding tour. A big part of what makes the Twin Cities a special place is the beautiful urban park system. You will hear more about that while observing the amazing amount of natural beauty along the parkways, lakes, gardens, historical sites, and diverse neighborhoods. View Lake Harriet, Bde Maka Ska, Lake of the Isles, and Cedar Lake. Stop at Lakewood Cemetery which is rich in local history, famous memorials, beautiful gardens, artisitc, monuments and architecture. The Memorial Chapel, completed in 1910 is the most perfect example of Byzantine mosaic art in the United States. 1 pm We drop the tour guide back at Backman's Greenhouse and have lunch at Patrick's Bakery and Cafe, located in the greenhouse. Menu: California Chicken Strip Sandwich on Walnut Raisin Bread with Honey Dijon Dressing: Baked Chicken Strips, Oven Roasted Red Peppers and Lettuce, Minestrone Soup, Coffee, Tea, or Milk, Mini Pastry for Dessert. After lunch we'll have a few minutes to shop at Bachman's Gift Store and Garden Center. 2:45 pm Leave Bachman's. Estimated return time to Burnsville 3 pm. Trip includes transportation, tour guide, lunch (tip for lunch included). Additional gratuitites of $1-5/person for the driver and professional guide are customary. Bus loads at Door #12 lower east side of Diamondhead Education Center. Check in begins inside the Sr Center 30 minutes prior to departure. Please check in no later than 15 minutes prior to departure time. 11 am Arrive at the Lowell Inn, a lush and elegant hotel that still stands the test of time. Have lunch in the Garden Room. The Lowell Inn, better known as the "Mt. Vernon of the Midwest, " opened in 1927. Menu: Fresh & almond crusted walleye is served with lemon cream sauce, vegetable of the day & sour cream mashed potatoes. Beverge and cookie. 12:30 pm Learn the Lowell Inn. 1:30 pm Arrive at the Chateau Winery nestled in rolling hills of the St. Croix River Valley. The castle-like breathtaking building, will have you feeling as is you've been whisked away to a historic French chateau. We'll divide into two groups for a tasting and a tour of the production area and Barrel Room. Explore the old-world charm of a winery created in the image of a European Estate. Enjoy the picturesque views of the St. Croix River Valley and vineyards located on the property. Visit the gift area and decide which wines you would like to purchase. 3 pm We leave the Chateau. Estimated arrival in Burnsville, 4:15 pm. Trip includes transportation, tour guide, lunch (tip for lunch included).
