QuiltersClubs and Common InterestsThe quilters create warm, colorful quilts for children in shelters, and hospitals, elderly folks in health care centers and more. The quilters have a great time sharing their quilting skills and knowledge while producing hundreds of quilts. All the quilts are made from donated fabric and are in turn donated to local organizations. Fabric donations are always welcome. this group meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month in the Senior Center Meeting Room at Diamondhead.Activities -

RC Wars3D Discover, Dream, Do!In RC Wars, teams of students will build their own Remote Control vehicles to race and battle against other teams. Students will need to design their vehicles to be not only faster and stronger than other teams’ creations, but also better than purchased RC Cars and Drones! RC Wars will feature land and air races, obstacle courses and more, as students learn mechanical and electrical building skills in an energetic and exciting environment. For an additional charge, students can purchase a drone for an additional $40. The drone is the UFO 4000.Summer 2026 -

Ready! for Kindergarten Parent WorkshopReady! for KindergartenFor Parents and Guardians of Children Birth to Pre-kindergarten READY! for Kindergarten empowers parents as their children’s first and most influential teachers in the years before school begins. School districts and organizations offer READY! to help close the achievement gap by partnering with parents so more children succeed in school and in life. How READY! for Kindergarten Works READY! for Kindergarten consists of Age Level Targets©, training, and tools to "play with a purpose," making learning at home fun and effective. Parents can attend up to three 90-minute in-person or online workshops per year for each of the first five years of their child’s life. Classes and materials are split into three sessions per year, once in the fall, winter and spring. Each session demonstrates to families the activities you can share with your child to build upon his or her development in that age group. Age groups are split into 0-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 and 4-5; and are offered at each class in both a virtual and in-person format. Register for the age group of your child based on his/her age on September 1 of 2025. Please note: this workshop is designed for parents/guardians alone (infants are welcome). Safeway Driving School for TeensTeenDrivers Education for Teens, with Safeway Driving School.Safeway Driving School offers Classroom and Behind-the-wheel instruction as well as a Parent involvement class. Classroom Instruction prepares the student to take the Minnesota permit test and begin the responsibility of driving. The 30 hours of classroom is structured into 10 independent lessons. If a student needs to miss a lesson, they can make up that exact lesson at the next Burnsville session or at one of Safeway's fixed locations. After class is completed, students who are 15 years old are eligible to take their permit test at any Minnesota exam center. Behind -the-Wheel Instruction includes six hours of driving in three 2-hour lessons. All driving will be in a real car with a responsible, licensed Safeway instructor. The lessons are given on actual city streets, highways and freeways. It is recommended that students take their first lesson 6-8 weeks after receiving their permit. The Safeway lessons should be a minimum of 30 days apart to allow for practice driving. The lessons can be completed up to one year after obtaining the permit. Scheduling is offered online for 24/7 convenience. All of Safeway's cars are white with identical graphics, so parents and students are confident that it is a Safeway car picking up the student for a lesson. Students can get picked up for their behind-the -wheel lesson from home, school or work. Parent Involvement is required to produce safe, responsible teen drivers. It is critical that parents plan to practice regularly with their new student drivers. Safeway offers detailed information on its website to assist parents with understanding Minnesota laws and requirements for student drivers.
