Burnsville SwingTeenThis is the school year program for swing dancers who auditioned and earned a spot on the Burnsville Swing Team during the Summer Swing Community Education program in July/August. If you have questions regarding auditioning for the team, please contact mihubbard@isd191.org (Participants will need to buy dresses/pant shirt outfit and shoes.) Middle School ChessTeenGrade 6-8 The "King of Games and the Game of Kings." Chess is a fun game of strategy proven to improve concentration and build brain power. Tuition includes premium subscription to Chesskid.com. Subscription includes video tutorials, online practice puzzles, and leveled play, as well as the opportunity to play other chess club members online from home. When enrollment permits, chess club is divided by ability. Chess clubs are coordinated by Brian Ribnick, coach of the award winning ISD 191 chess teams. Coaching staff ranges from classroom teachers to Burnsville High students with a long-term love of the game.Fall 2026

Middle School Spanish Prep: A Foundation Course (Live Virtual)Online EnrichmentGrades 6-8 In this LIVE, virtual, eight-week class, students will learn essential fundamentals to build a strong base in the Spanish language. Numbers, alphabet and pronunciation, days of the week, family members, and school vocabulary are just a few of the topics covered! Students will practice common questions and answers for carrying on small conversations and sentence structure in Spanish. (Online portal resources and practice tools included.)Fall 2026 -
Modern Dance ProjectTeenYouth Dance Ensemble and 191 Community Education are partnering to offer an 8-week modern dance workshop for Burnsville middle school students. The program includes free transportation to and from Nicollet Middle School, plus a snack each session. Students should wear comfortable clothes for movement (e.g., t-shirt, sweatpants, shorts, socks) and commit to attending all sessions. The workshop will conclude with two community performances showcasing participants’ work. Performance date is April 9, 2027Winter-Spring 2027
